zeroclassikal

 

zerOclassikal is a project that aims to get to the roots of south asian Classical performance for a moderns sensibility:

 

 

To revive awareness of south Asian Classical performance – in music dance and dance - to new and modern audiences, and get to the heart of its contemporary sensibility.

 

 

To facilitate the awareness of new emerging south Asian Classical artists trained in, and who professionally work in the UK.

 


The project aims to:
 

 

To create projects that generate UK professional south Asian Classical arts industry.

 

 

To promote the work of UK trained/based south Asian classical artists who professionally work in the UK.

 

 

To facilitate professional progression of UK trained south Asian classical artist.

 


Its activities will be:
 

 

Professional development workshops -  intensive advanced stage programmes in specifics of classical performance and techniques with Masters (such as the recent ‘Concentric’ at Patidar Theatre)

 

 

Advocacy - genre and art form promotion with emphasis on aiming subsidy funding infrastructures; and lead on marketing opportunities

 

 

Basement sessions - organise informal café style jam sessions where dance and music artists can come together to progress and share performance skills, techniques, experiences, and create new work, opportunities and relationships. The basement sessions will be held in informal studio spaces where there is no financial incentive or pressure of a concert, just sweat!

 

 

Season/festival - an annual showcase in prominent and important regional spaces supported by programme of seminars, workshops, talks, networking.

 

  Agency - offer professional services to artists such as bookings, artist development, marketing, grant bids etc.
